SAT Test Dates 2024: Complete Schedule and Deadlines

James Reeves
December 1, 2023

It’s time to start making plans for the new Digital SAT! Starting with the March 9th SAT, all future PSAT and SAT tests will follow the new digital format. This post includes all of the SAT dates and deadlines you need to know for 2024.

Plan ahead, pick a date, and start prepping!

Shows all of the 2024 SAT dates and registration deadlines.

* this is the regular registration deadline

For an extra fee, you can register late (up to ~4 days after the regular deadline).

** these dates are "anticipated" but rarely change

‍

‍

As usual, the SAT will be offered 7 times in 2024. This gives students plenty of opportunities to take the test. That said, it’s best to start preparing early and not wait until the last minute.

If you’re looking for help preparing for the SAT, check out my SAT Intensive class. I’d love to help!

Common Questions About SAT Test Dates

When is the SAT? When are SAT test dates?

The SAT is offered 7 times in 2024. It takes place on Saturday mornings. Refer to the table above for the exact dates.
‍

When is the SAT going digital?

There have been some trial digital SAT tests already, but not an official digital SAT. The 2023 PSAT was the first official digital test. The March 9th, 2024 SAT will be the first official Digital SAT!
‍

When is the SAT for juniors?

Juniors can take the SAT on any of the 7 dates the test is offered. Refer to the table above. Unlike the PSAT, parents/students must register for the SAT themselves through their College Board account. The SAT is open to students of all ages. I recommend taking the test before your junior year to get a baseline score.
‍

When is the SAT for October?

The 2024 October SAT is on October 5th.
‍

When is the SAT taken in high school?

You can take the SAT at any age! Simply register, pay the fee, and take the test. Take it early to see what it’s all about. There is no downside to taking the test multiple times. Most students first take the SAT in their sophomore or junior year, but there are many factors that go into making that decision.
‍

When is the SAT changing?

The SAT is switching to the new digital format as of March 9th, 2024. All SAT tests from that point forward will be the Digital SAT.

All of the dates in the table come directly from College Board’s website.
